Minister of Buddhism and Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi has issued an Extraordinary Gazette Notification appointing an Archaeological Advisory Committee.

The committee is said to consist of Venerable Wedaruwe Dharma Keerthi Sri Rathanapala Upali Nayaka Thero, the Anunayaka of the Asgiri Vihara Chapter of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya of the Maha Vihara lineage, the Chief Incumbent of the Polonnaruwa Solosmasthana Rajamaha Vihara, and 19 lay members.

Venerable Dr. Pahamune Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thero, the Chief Registrar of the Malwatta Maha Vihara Chapter of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, is also a member of the committee.

The Extraordinary Gazette Notification states that this Archaeological Advisory Committee has been appointed for a period of time from March 10th of this year to March 09th of 2027.
