The Meteorological Department says that showers are likely to occur at times in the Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts today (15).

Issuing a statement, the department stated that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur at several places in the Northe and Easte provinces during the evening or night.

The statement further states that strong winds of about 40–50 kilometers per hour can be expected at times on the weste slopes of the Central Highlands and in the Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Southe , Northweste , and North Central provinces.

Accordingly, the Meteorological Department has advised the public to take adequate measures to minimize damage caused by strong winds and lightning.
