The Supreme Court has declared the arrest and detention of former Weste Province Gove or Azath Salley under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2021, to be unlawful.

The court ordered the respondents, including former Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara and the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, to pay Rs. 75,000 in compensation.
