The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that a reduction in heavy rain conditions in the Northe , North-Central, Uva and Easte provinces is expected after today.

It also stated that rain or thundershowers will occur from time to time in Easte , Uva provinces and Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Some places in Uva province, Polonnaruwa and Matale districts may receive heavy rain of about 50 mm.

It also states that there may be some rains in the Northe Province and Anuradhapura district.

In Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Galle and Matara districts, there will be scattered showers or thundershowers after 1.00 pm.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
