The Department of Meteorology says that the northeast monsoon is gradually establishing itself across the island.
The department stated that several spells of showers are likely to occur in the Northe , North-Central, Easte , and Uva provinces and in the Matale district today (06).
The Department of Meteorology also states that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in other parts of the island after about 1.00 pm.
The statement issued by the Department of Meteorology indicates that some places in the Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts, are expected to experience showers. Moderately heavy showers exceeding 75 mm are likely to occur.
