The Somawathiya-Sungawila road was reopened to traffic yesterday (25) after 8 days.

The road was flooded due to heavy rainfall in the Polonnaruwa district in the past few days, and therefore the police have taken steps to suspend traffic.

Accordingly, with the water gradually receding, the road leading to the Somawathiya sacred site and the Somawathiya temple was opened to devotees for worship yesterday (25) afte oon.
