A special discussion was held under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on the challenges that have arisen in achieving the gove ment's target of increasing the country's export revenue to $36 billion by 2030 and the solutions that can be provided to them.
It was held yesterday (12) at the Presidential Secretariat.
Here, a review of the decisions taken in the last session and relevant proposals were discussed extensively.
The Presidential Media Division stated that the President's attention was drawn to a number of essential issues related to the development of the export sector.
Also, discussions were held on developing the gem and jewelry sector, installing a new scanner to make customs operations more efficient, the pharmaceutical export industry, poultry exports, tea export development, spice exports, the Export Hub concept, the development of the Trincomalee Port, growth in export-related investments, supply of raw materials to the electronics export sector, entering into new tariff agreements, and tariffs.
