Health departments in SL have expressed their opinion about the HMPV (Human metapneumovirus) respiratory virus that is spreading in the United States.

Accordingly, the health department said that they are paying close attention and vigilance to this matter.

Dr. Anver Hamdani of the Ministry of Health said that any new disease that spreads in a foreign country can be a threat to Sri Lanka.

At present, the virus does not show a dangerous situation of spreading, but it is said that there is a risk of spreading to other countries like COVID-19.
