The main suspect who was arrested in connection with the rape of the female doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has been remanded.
It is reported that the suspect has been ordered to be remanded until the 17th after being produced in court.
The suspect must also appear for an identification parade on that day, according to the court's order.
It is reported that the Chief Magistrate has further ordered the Anuradhapura Headquarters Chief Inspector of Police R. M. Jayaweera to submit a report indicating the progress of the investigations into this crime to the court on the next court date.
A former army soldier and a person who was a chivaradhari named Nilantha Manduranga Ratnayake, a resident of D. 3 Ela Road in Galnewa New Town, has been remanded.
