The UK has imposed sanctions on individuals responsible for human rights violations during Sri Lanka's civil war.
Accordingly, it is reported that sanctions have been imposed on former Army Commanders General Shavendra Silva, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, and former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda.
Similarly, sanctions have also been imposed on Vinayargamoorthy Muralitharan, alias Karuna Amman, who once served as the leader of the Easte Armed Forces of the LTTE.
