The United National Party (UNP) and the New Democratic Front (NDF) have decided to propose the formation of a selection committee to review the educational qualifications of Members of Parliament and Ministers representing the National People's Power (NPP).

According to political sources, the proposal will be submitted to Parliament by MP Jeevan Thondaman. Further discussions on the matter are expected during upcoming parliamentary sessions.
