Venezuelan Protests Erupt Over Disputed Election Results



Security forces in Venezuela clashed with protesters following a disputed election in which President Nicolás Maduro claimed victory.

The opposition, supporting Edmundo González, alleged fraud, stating González won with 73.2% of the vote. Massive protests ensued in Caracas, with demonstrators facing tear gas and rubber bullets from the police.

The gove ment suspended flights to and from Panama and the Dominican Republic amid the unrest.

Inte ational bodies and several countries, including the US and Argentina, have called for transparency in the voting process, expressing doubts about the announced results.
