The Department of Meteorology says that strong winds are likely to occur in several areas of the island due to the increase in the southwest monsoon flow across the island.
The department, issuing a statement, stated that strong winds of about 50-60 kilometers per hour are likely to occur at times in the weste slopes of the Central Highlands and in the Northe , North-Central, and North-Weste provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
The statement further states that moderately strong winds of about 30–40 kilometers per hour are likely to occur at times in other parts of the island.
This statement has been issued and will be effective until 12.30 pm tomorrow (29).
