Addressing the media, TRCSL Deputy Director Ms. M. Pathirana urged consumers to check the IMEI number to ensure that the phone they are looking to buy is TRCSL approved.

The IMEI number is mentioned on the cover of the mobile phone box.

You can check the validity of the IMEI number by sending an SMS to 1909 with 15 digits of IMEI (a space).

Through that, you will receive an instant reply message about whether your mobile phone is registered with the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission or not.
