India celebrates 75 years of independence (PHOTOS)



India celebrated its 75th independence anniversary today (15).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivering a speech from the historic Red Fort in New Delhi.

The “Jewel in the Crown” of the British Empire India gained independence in 1947 after two centuries of colonial occupation and exploitation.

When the British left, the Indian subcontinent split into two.

That is, the area where the majority of Hindus lived was called India and the area where most of the Muslim people lived was called Pakistan.
