The Inland Revenue Department of Sri Lanka has made a notice regarding the tax related requirements that will come into force from January 01, 2024.

Accordingly, it is reported that any person aged 18 or above must register with the Inland Revenue Department and obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

Also, any person who ea s more than one lakh rupees must register for income tax for an assessment year (April 01 to March 31 of the following year).

It was mentioned in the relevant notification that people who do not register will be registered by the Inland Revenue Department and will be subject to a fine.
