According to foreign media, at least 47 people have gone missing after a landslide occurred in Yunnan province in southweste China.
Rescue efforts are said to be underway in Zhaotong City, Zhenxiong County.
At least eight deaths were confirmed after the bodies were recovered from the rubble.
Foreign media reports that more than 500 people have been evacuated from the region after the incident.
Among the collapsed buildings, rescuers have carried out operations to find people trapped under the debris and it is stated that around 18 houses have been destroyed by the incident.
