The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that the development of rainy weather conditions in many parts of the island is expected from today (28) in the next few days.

It also states that there will be rain or thundershowers from time to time in Easte and Uva provinces.

It is also a day with several rains in the northe and north-central provinces.

After 2.00 pm in the rest of the island, there may be scattered rain or thundershowers.

In Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Weste Provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts, heavy rains of about 75 mm may occur in some places.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
