The Commissioner General of Excise has ordered the closure of all excise licensed places for the sale of alcohol to retail on the 3rd of June, Poson Full Moon Poya Day.

Also, the Excise Commissioner General has ordered that all excise licensed places or liquor shops in the Anuradhapura district should be closed during the Poson Week which has been declared from 31.05.2023 to 06.06.2023 focusing on Anuradhapura Pooja city in conjunction with the State Poson festival.

Accordingly, all excise station commanders in the island have been instructed to strictly enforce the law if there is any excise licensed station that does not agree to close its excise licensed stations on those dates or violates the license conditions.
