The Central Environmental Authority says that the air quality index values have reached high levels in several areas of the country.
Dr. Ajith Gunawardena, Director of Environmental Education and Awareness and Media Spokesperson of the Central Environmental Authority, said that the air quality index has increased to a rather unfavorable level, especially in the North and Northeast regions.
This situation has arisen due to the air circulation occurring between the borders.
He said that air pollutants have entered the country from the north with the turbulent nature of the atmosphere that existed two weeks ago.
He stated that Sri Lanka now has the ability to obtain information about this through the online system.
