Former Executive Director of the State Engineering Corporation, Nelu Wijeyadasa, has been arrested.

This is on allegations that he caused a loss of over Rs. 1.6 million to the government by misusing the employees and property of the Exchange Commission to renovate the UNP headquarters in Sirikotha in 2019.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama, who ordered the suspect to be released on two surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each, has also ordered a travel ban on the suspect.
