An 85-year-old security guard at the Nuwara Eliya SLTB depot was murdered, and nearly Rs. 900,000 in cash was stolen in a shocking robbery.

The victim, K. Logeswaran, a resident of Galpaya, Nuwara Eliya, was attacked in his security cell. Initial investigations revealed that the perpetrators struck him on the head with a sharp weapon before taking the cash stored in a cupboard at the depot.

The money, collected from bus operations the previous evening (December 5), was awaiting deposit. Although the station officer and cashier were present at the depot, the crime occurred while they were asleep.

The Nuwara Eliya Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
