The Ministry of Health announced that the ongoing shortage of insulin is expected to be resolved within the next four days.
Dr. G. Wijesuriya, Deputy Director General of the Medical Supplies Division, explained that the delay was due to challenges in the supplier registration process, which have now been resolved.
To address the situation promptly, the first batch of Insulin Mixtard will be airlifted. Hospitals have also been instructed to carefully manage existing stocks until the new supplies arrive.
The Ministry emphasized that the hospital system uses three types of insulin and is committed to ensuring a continuous supply of essential medications.
