Geology and Mining Bureau says a slight earthquake of 2.1 on the Richter scale near Kataragama area.

It is reported that it is east of Sellakataragama.

However, the bureau added that there should be no unnecessary fear about this.
 
The earthquake occurred at 10:24 last night and few people in that area felt it.
