The Election Commission has announced that the deadline for submitting income and expenditure reports for the 2024 parliamentary elections will end at midnight today (December 6).

Chairman R. M. A. L. Ratnayake revealed that only 1,985 of the 8,361 candidates who contested have submitted their reports so far. He wa ed that legal action would be taken against those who fail to meet the deadline.

Additionally, Ratnayake stated that preparations are underway to expedite the conduct of local gove ment elections.
