The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that a slight increase in rainfall is expected in the south-weste parts of the island today and in the next few days.

It also states that there will be rain or thundershowers from time to time in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
 
Heavy rains of about 100mm can also be expected in some areas in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.

In Uva and Easte Provinces, rain or thundershowers will occur at places in the evening or at night.
 
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
