The Southwest monsoon conditions are moderately establishing over the island.

According to the weather report issued by the Department of Meteorology very heavy showers of about 150 mm are likely at some places in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Heavy showers above 100 mm will occur at some places in the North-Weste province and Galle and Matara districts.

A red wa ing for heavy rain has been issued for Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-weste provinces ans for Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-eliya Districts by the Natural Hazards Early Wa ing Centre.

The public is highly advised to take necessary safety measures to minimize damages caused by heavy rain, strong winds, thundering, and lightning.
