The Meteorological Department says that there may be occasional rain or thundershowers today (12).

Rainy conditions can be seen in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

In the North-West and Central Provinces, there will be several periods of rain and some places will receive 75 mm heavy rains.

The department also says that there will be rain or thunder in the evening and night in Ampara and Batticaloa districts of Uva province.

In addition to this, the Meteorological Department announced that strong winds of 40-45 kmh are possible.

It is in the weste slopes of the Central Hills, Northe and North-Central Provinces, Hambantota, Puttalam and Trincomalee districts.

It has also been informed to take necessary measures to reduce the accidents caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
