The Ministry of Education says that textbooks will not be provided for Grades One and Six next year.

Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madura Seneviratne stated that activities and modules will be introduced for these students under the new education reform.

The minister further stated that their printing has already begun, which will reduce the weight of the school book bags of students in those grades.
