Traders selling food unfit for human consumption will be punished

The Public Health Inspectors Association says that strict penalties will be taken against traders selling food unfit for human consumption in areas affected by the bad weather.

Its chairman, Pradeep Boralessa, stated that if such an act is committed in any place, the Public Health Inspector of that area should be informed immediately.

Meanwhile, the storage of beef, mutton, and pork for sale and the slaughter of animals for meat have been banned in the Mannar district for a period of one week.

He further said that measures will be taken to control epidemics and infectious diseases in areas affected by the bad weather.
