400 vehicles imported from Japan stuck at port

The Vehicle Importers Association says that around 400 vehicles imported from Japan have been stuck at the port without being able to be released.

Chairman of the Vehicle Importers Association Indika Sampath Merenchige stated that the regulations issued in a gazette notification regarding vehicle imports have led to this situation.

Quality inspection reports for all vehicles imported from one ship have been provided by one company.

They point out that according to the gazette notification issued, that company is not among the recommended companies that can obtain quality inspection reports.

Chairman of the Vehicle Importers Association Indika Sampath Merenchige further stated that it is essential to provide a permanent solution to this problem.
