A person has died after being hit by a train traveling from Maradana to Beliatta.

This happened near the Nupe railway crossing in Matara.

The person who was hit in this way has died after being admitted to the Matara Hospital with serious injuries.

The deceased is a 59-year-old resident of Hamuwatta.
