The electricity trade unions say that in accordance with the work-to-the-letter trade union action initiated against the restructuring of the Sri Lanka Electricity Board, services such as power outages, updates, bill payments, etc. will be carried out only during working hours.
Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (15), the Chairman of the Electricity Board's Technicians' Association, Kosala Abeysinghe, said that in addition to the work-to-the-letter trade union action, the electricity trade unions have decided to engage in a sick leave trade union action tomorrow (17) and the day after tomorrow (18).
Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody stated that there will be no harm to job security through the new restructuring process, and those who do not agree with it can resign voluntarily.
