Amal Silva, a Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia municipal councillor and former Weste provincial councillor who was arrested on charges of possessing three illegal jeeps, has been released on bail.

This was according to an order of the Panadura Magistrate's Court.

It is reported that he has been released on two surety bonds of Rs. 5 million.
