The Department of Meteorology has issued an announcement saying that after 1.00 pm there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms in many parts of the island.

It also stated that some places in Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces may experience heavy rains of about 100 mm.

In the weste and southe provinces and in the Puttalam district, rain may also occur in the mo ing.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
