The Department of Meteorology says in a statement that there will be occasional rains in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Weste provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

In Sabaragamuwa province, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, heavy rains of about 150 mm may occur in some places, while in Weste province and Galle and Matara districts, heavy rains of more than 75 mm may occur in some places.

A little rain may occur in the northe province and In Uva province, Ampara and Batticaloa districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night.
 
In the weste slopes of the Central Hills, in the North-Central Province and in the districts of Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee, Strong winds of around 40-45kmh  are possible.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
