The Department of Meteorology says that a slight increase in rain is expected in the southweste part of the island today (25).
It is also mentioned that heavy rains of more than 50 mm may occur in some places in the Weste Province and Galle and Matara districts.
The department mentioned that occasional rain or thundershowers will occur in Sabaragamuwa provinces, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and districts.
The statement issued by the Department of Meteorology states that there will be several rainy seasons in the North-West Province.
In Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night.
In the weste slopes of the Central Hills, in the North-Central Province and in the districts of Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee, there is an occasional gust wind of up to 50 km/h.
The department requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
