The Department of Meteorology says in a statement that the current rain situation in the southweste part of the island is expected to continue.

It also states that there will be rain or thundershowers from time to time in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
 
Some areas in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts can expect heavy rains of about 75 mm.

Anuradhapura district receives little rain.
 
In North, North-Central and North-West Provinces, and in Trincomalee and Hambantota Districts, the winds are blowing from time to time per 40-45kmh.
 
A few places in Badulla, Ampara and Batticaloa districts may experience rain or thundershowers in the evening or at night.
 
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
