The minimum wage in the private sector has been increased by Rs. 3,000 with effect from January 1.

Issuing a statement, the Commissioner General of Labour, H. M. D. N. K. Wataliyadda, stated that accordingly, the minimum wage will increase from Rs. 27,000 to Rs. 30,000.

This salary increase has been increased in accordance with the provisions of the National Minimum Wages of Employees Amendment Act No. 11 of 2025.
