A multi-day fishing boat carrying more than 100 Myanmar nationals, including nearly 25 young children, has arrived at the Mullaittivu coast, according to local naval officials and police.
Authorities report that the group was being transported illegally as refugees from Myanmar to another country when the boat ran out of food and water, forcing it to dock in Mullaittivu.
The Sri Lanka Navy has stepped in to provide essential supplies to those on board, including food and water. Security officials are currently assessing the situation to determine further action.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the boat's arrival and the condition of its passengers, who were found in need of urgent assistance.
