The Department of Meteorology says that a temporary increase in the current rain conditions in the south-weste parts of the island can be expected in the next few days.

The department stated that there may be occasional rains in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, North-Weste and Northe provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

In some places of the island, 75mm more heavy rains will also occur.

Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts may experience scattered rain or thundershowers in the evening or at night.

In the weste slopes of the Central Hills, in the North Central Province and in the districts of Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee, wind gusts of up to 50 km/h are expected from time to time.
