The Department of Meteorology says in a statement that there will be some light rains in Weste , Sabaragamuwa and North-Weste provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

It said that rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts during evening or night.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning in those areas during thunderstorms.
