The Department of Meteorology says that today (17th) there will be several periods of rain in Weste , Sabaragamuwa and North-Weste provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

In Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night.

The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
