The Department of Meteorology says in a statement that there will be several periods of rain in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

It also said that there may be few rains in the North and North-West provinces.
 
In Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night.

In the weste slopes of the Central Hills, in the North-Central Province and in the districts of Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee, Strong winds of around 40-45 kmh are possible.
 
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
