The Department of Meteorology says that as the southwest monsoon has established itself across the island, an increase in rain conditions can be expected in the southweste areas of the island.

The department stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at times in the Weste , Sabaragamuwa, and Northweste provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The Department of Meteorology stated that some places in these areas may experience fairly heavy rains exceeding 75 mm.

Similarly, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 pm.
