The Meteorological Department has issued a general weather forecast for the next 36 hours.

It states that the southwest monsoon is gradually establishing itself over the island.

The statement further states that moderate to heavy rains of about 75 mm may occur at some places in the Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Puttalam, Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy districts.

The Meteorological Department also stated that moderate to strong winds of about 30–40 kmph may occur at times in the weste parts of the central hills and in the North-Weste , North-Central, Northe , and Southe provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee district.
