The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says that the weighted average prime lending rate (AWPR) of licensed commercial banks in the country has come down to 12.79%.
In issuing a report, the Central Bank further stated that the rate was 13.03% in the previous week.
A year ago this rate was as high as 28.51%.
Accordingly, the weighted average prime loan rates of several licensed commercial banks have reached the level of 13%, the relevant report further states.
