The announcement issued by the Department of Meteorology today (29) states that there will be some periods of light rain in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Ampara and Batticaloa districts may experience rain or thundershowers at a few places during evening or night.

There will be mainly rainless weather in the rest of the island.
 
In the weste slopes of the central hills, in the northe and north-central provinces and in the districts of Hambantota and Trincomalee, wind gusts of up to 50 km/h will occur at times.
