South-West monsoon conditions are gradually establishing across the island.

The Department of Meteorology stated in its latest weather forecast that the prevailing showery and windy conditions will continue further as a result.

Heavy Showers above 100mm will occur at some places in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, and North-weste provinces and Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, and Mannar districts.

Showers or thundershowers can be expected at times in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-weste , and Southe provinces and Mannar district.

Moderately strong winds about 30-40 kmph are likely over the island.

The public is highly advised to take necessary safety measures to minimize damages caused by strong winds, thundering, and lightning.
