A weather wa ing has been issued regarding heavy rains and strong winds that will remain in effect until today (26) evening.

Accordingly, the Department of Meteorology says that there will be rain or thundershowers from time to time in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Also, some places in Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm.

According to the announcement issued by the department, it is stated that there will be several rainy seasons in the North-West Province as well.

Rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

In the weste slopes of the Central Highlands, in the Weste and North-Central Provinces and in the districts of Puttalam, Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee, 40-45 kmh strong winds are likely to occur.

The department requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
